Saturday's (Oct. 6) announced crowd of 108,415 fans is the 205th consecutive game in excess of 100,000 in Michigan Stadium.
After picking up three yards on his third carry of the game, tailback Mike Hart became the sixth Wolverine to gain 5,000-plus career all-purpose yards. His career totals sit at 5,225 all-purpose yards after today's performance.
With his 14-yard run in the second Michigan drive of the game, Mike Hart became U-M's all-time leading rusher. Hart also set the career attempts record in the game. He has 929 carries for 4,655 yards and 37 touchdowns on the ground for his career to move past Anthony Thomas (924 carries, 4,472 yards) in both categories.
Hart gained 215 yards on 22 carries against EMU -- his sixth straight 100-yard rushing effort and the 25th of his career.
Hart tied Jamie Morris for the most consecutive 100-yard rushing games in school history with his sixth such effort. Morris ended his career with six straight contests with over 100 yards rushing in 1987. Hart is the first back in U-M history to begin the season with six straight 100-yard rushing games.
Hart rushed for more than 200 yards in a game for the fifth time in his career, improving upon his own school record for 200-yard rushing games.
Today's game marked the fifth time that Mike Hart rushed for a career-high three touchdowns in one game.
Senior WR Adrian Arrington surpassed 100 yards receiving in a game for the first time in his career. Arrington completed the contest with 102 yards on six catches (17.0 avg).
Senior quarterback Chad Henne was 17-for-26 with 195 yards passing, one touchdown pass and two interceptions.
With Jamar Adams' interception on the opening drive of the game, the Wolverine defense has forced a turnover on five consecutive drives dating back to the fourth quarter at Northwestern last week (Sept. 29). The team recovered two fumbles and picked off three pass attempts.
Chad Henne's 31-yard touchdown completion to Adrian Arrington finished a 99-yard drive, which ties a U-M school record for longest scoring drive. The Wolverines have gone the length of the field on four prior occasions -- most recently against Notre Dame (Sept. 11, 1993).
Freshman quarterback Ryan Mallet appeared in one series, completing one pass for nine yards.
Michigan improved to 8-0 against Eastern Michigan and 23-0 against teams from the Mid-American Conference.
Senior K.C. Lopata sent a 31-yard kick through the uprights in the first quarter for the first field goal of his career. He added a 36-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Senior DT Tim Jamison recorded the 50th stop of his career after he sacked EMU's quarterback in the second quarter. He finished the day with two tackles, including two sacks.
Freshman WR Junior Hemingway hauled in a 23-yard pass to mark the first reception of his career.
Eastern Michigan became the first team to return a Michigan PAT attempt that resulted in a defensive return for a conversion.
Freshman cornerback James Rogers recovered a loose ball on special teams to account for the first fumble recovery of his career.
Junior Brandon Logan picked up his first fumble recovery in the third quarter after safety Brandent Englemon forced the turnover.
Juniors RT Mark Ortmann, TE Chris McLaurin, and LB Brandon Logan made their first career starts today.
Stephen Schilling made his first career start at right guard after starting the previous five games at right tackle.
U-M started its fourth different player at right guard and has featured five different starting combinations on the offensive line in six games this year.
Fifth-year senior Brandent Englemon made his 20th career start, lining up at safety today.
Fifth-year senior Shawn Crable and seniors Jamar Adams and Chris Graham played in the 40th game of their careers.
