
Boss Takes Eastern Michigan Head Coaching Position

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan baseball head coach Rich Maloney announced Tuesday (Nov. 13) that assistant coach Jake Boss is leaving the program to assume head coaching duties at Eastern Michigan University. Boss will take over the Eagles' program effective immediately.

"Jake has done an outstanding job for us as recruiting coordinator," Maloney said. "We are excited for him and his family to have this opportunity. Eastern Michigan is getting a good man who is ready to make this next step. I know he'll do a good job for them."
Boss has been a member of the Michigan baseball staff since the 2005 season, serving as the program's recruiting coordinator while coaching the outfielders and catchers and assisting Maloney with hitting. He has worked as a baseball coach the last 12 years, including as an assistant at Eastern Michigan (1998-2004), where he earned his master's degree in physical education (2000). Prior to that, Boss was an assistant coach at Iowa Central Community College (1996-97) and spent one year as head coach at Webberville (Mich.) High School and one year as an assistant at Lakeview (Mich.) High School.
A native of Lansing, Mich., Boss played collegiate baseball at Alma College (1989-93), where he earned his bachelor's degree in English in 1993.
