U-M Closes Out Action at the Tyson Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan womens track and field team closed action on the final day of the Tyson Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 10) at Randal Tyson Indoor Track.
Sophomore/freshman Christina Solomon (Belleville, Mich./Belleville HS) earned U-Ms highest place on the evening, tying for second place in the high jump with a career-best clearance of 5-5. Sophomore/freshman Olivia Both (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington HS) placed 13th in the event, clearing 5-1.
In the running events, junior/sophomore Natasha Luppov (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) posted a personal-best time of 9:52.33 in the 3,000m run, finishing in sixth place. In the 3,000m run championship finals, fifth-year senior co-captain Rebecca Walter (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves HS) placed 13th with a season-best time of 9:46.08.
In the 4x400m relay, the Wolverines clocked a season-best time of 3:42.95, taking sixth place and narrowly missing the NCAA provisional standard time of 3:40.00. Junior Serita Williams (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee HS) ran the opening leg, passing the baton to senior Chanelle Campbell (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock HS), while sophomore Geena Gall (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc HS) and fifth-year senior Katie Erdman (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac HS) ran the final two legs.
Sophomore Amber Hay (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance HS) led all Wolverines in the 800m run with a 13th place time of 2:12.86.
In the pole vault, the Maize and Blue placed four competitors in the top 25 (14th, 18th, 21st and 24th). Fifth-year senior co-captain Kristin Pearson (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba HS) led the Michigan contingent with a 14th place clearance of 11-7.
The Wolverines come back to Ann Arbor to host the Harold Silverston Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 17) at the U-M Indoor Track.
