
Future Wolverine Pendleton Wins at Pan Am Junior Games

SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Incoming freshman Emily Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore HS) of the University of Michigan women's track and field team won the womens discus at the Pan American Junior Games last Friday (July 6) in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Her throw of 161 feet was more than eight feet longer than the next closest throw.
Pendleton won the Gatorade National Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year on June 21. She is a four-time Ohio state discus champion (2004-07) and is the Division III state record holder in the event with a mark of 183-3. In 2006, the future Wolverine grabbed discus titles at the Nike Outdoor Nationals and USA Junior Championships. She was also Ohio's state runner-up in the shot put this season (42-10).
