Nelson Named to Canadian Under-23 National Team

VICTORIA, B.C. -- Junior Julia Nelson (St. Catharines, Ontario/St. Francis Secondary) of the University of Michigan women's rowing team was selected to Canada's squad for the upcoming 2007 World Rowing Under-23 Championships, Rowing Canada announced Friday (July 6).

Nelson, a rising performer at Michigan, will be a member of the Canadian eight. This year's World Rowing Under-23 Championhips will be held July 26-29 in Strathclyde, Scotland.
Nelson spent the 2007 spring season in Michigan's first varsity eight boat. She helped the Wolverine crew earn a Big Ten title, while also earning All-Big Ten second team recognition.
Michigan previously had three alumni compete at the World Under-23 Championships: Leah Ketcheson (2003), Heather Mandoli (2004) and Katie Reynolds (2004).
