Wilhite, Hoyer Selected to NFHCA All-West Region Team

GLEN ALLEN, Va. -- Senior captains Sarah Wilhite(Hummelstown, Pa./.Hershey HS) and Stephanie Hoyer(Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek HS) of the University of Michigan field hockey team were selected to the STX/NFHCA Division I All-West teams, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Wednesday (Nov. 18). Wilhite was named to the 16-player first team, while Hoyer was listed on the second team. It was the first all-region recognition for both Wolverine players.
Wilhite, a 2008 All-Big Ten first team selection, boasted career numbers during her final collegiate season and ended the campaign ranked second among the Wolverines' leading scorers with six goals and 16 assists, all of which she compiled over an impressive 12-game point streak. Over her four-year tenure, Wilhite accumulated nine goals and 20 helpers in 84 total games played. She will represent Michigan at the 2008 NFHCA Senior All-Star Game.
Hoyer, a four-year fixture among the Wolverines' forward line, appeared in every U-M game of her collegiate career with 87 total games and 46 consecutive starts. An All-Big Ten second team choice in her final season, she wrapped up her career with 25 career goals, including four gamewinners, and 10 career assists. Hoyer will also represent U-M at the Senior All-Star Game.
With her first-team All-Region status, Wilhite is a candidate for the STX/NFHCA All-America team. The group will be announced on Monday, Nov. 24, a day after the conclusion of the NCAA Championship in Louisville, Ky.
