CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Junior Mike Sroczynski (Chatham, N.J./Laurel Springs School) and sophomore Jason Jung (Torrance, Calif./West Torrance HS) of the University of Michigan men's tennis team concluded their doubles run at the ITA National Indoor Tournament, falling in the consolation semifinals today (Saturday, Nov. 8) at Boar's Head Sports Club.
The Michigan tandem fell to Virginia's Dom Inglot and Michael Shabaz, 7-5, 6-3 today, and as a result, the pair concluded action at the prestigious tournament with a 1-2 record.
Sroczynski and Jung, playing in the tournament for the first time, took on three top-25 teams in their run through the tournament. The pair opened tournament action with a loss to Wake Forest's Steve Foreman and Corey Parr, the No. 2 team in the country, and then defeated Texas A&M's Austin Krajicek and Conor Pollock -- the No. 4 team in the country -- 8-5.
The Michigan pair earned a spot in the tournament last month when it took home the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional doubles title -- Michigan's first-ever regional title. The prestigious tournament features the top 16 doubles teams in the country.
This marks the final weekend of fall action for the Wolverines. U-M will next be in action Jan. 9-13 when Michigan heads to the Key Biscayne Individuals, held Jan. 9-11 in Key Biscayne, Fla., and the USTA Futures tournaments, held Jan. 9-13 in North Miami Beach, Fla.
