
Kolarik Inks Deal with Phoenix Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Senior forward Chad Kolarik(Abington, Pa.) of the University of Michigan ice hockey team has signed an entry-level contract, the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes announced Sunday (April 13). Kolarik was a seventh-round draft pick (199th overall) of the Coyotes in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Kolarik just completed a standout four-year career with the Maize and Blue, during which he racked up 174 points on 78 goals and 96 assists. His 174 points rank 21st all-time at U-M, while his 96 assists are tied for 22nd. As a senior, Kolarik set career highs for goals (30) and points (56) en route to earning American Hockey Coaches Association West All-America second team recognition. Nationally, he was third in goals and fourth in points. He also was named to the All-CCHA first team.
An alternate captain in 2007-08, Kolarik led the Wolverines to the NCAA Frozen Four, CCHA regular season and postseason championships and the 2007 Great Lakes Invitational title. As a rookie in 2004-05, Kolarik helped U-M to a sweep of the CCHA regular season and postseason crowns. U-M advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each of his four campaigns.
