ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 5-ranked University of Michigan softball team's 2008 home opener, scheduled for Wednesday (April 2) against Bowling Green, has been postponed due to wet grounds, but the team's "Meet and Greet" event will take place as planned at 6 p.m. at Oosterbaan Field House.
The Wolverines-Falcons contest has been rescheduled for next Wednesday (April 9) at Alumni Field in the Wilpon Baseball and Softball Complex. The start time will be announced later this week.
The Wolverines' weekend schedule remains intact, with games scheduled against Big Ten Conference rivals Iowa and Illinois at Alumni Field. U-M will face the Hawkeyes on Friday (April 4, 4 p.m.) and Saturday (April 5, noon) before squaring off against the Illini for a noon doubleheader on Sunday (April 8). Friday's game will be shown live on the Big Ten Network.
The 2008 campaign marks U-M's inaugural season in the Wilpon Softball and Baseball Complex. Modernizations to the new facility were funded largely by the Judy and Fred Wilpon Family Foundation, which covered $4 million of the $5.5 million softball project.
