Michigan Head Coach Jim Richardson
On the meet... "We are pretty beat up still. We had a hard time generating speed. I like the way we fought, but we are just in the middle of the hardest part of the season right now. I don't think how the girls are racing is indicative of how hard we are training, but when we get to the end of the week we just don't have anything in the tank right now."
On the team's training... "I take more out of how we train Monday-Friday than how we race during the weekend. We choose to prepare for the end of the season, so sometimes the meets on the weekend are painful and not a good representation of how we are training. It is a conscious decision to do that and it takes courage for the kids to go out there and try and race when it is not happening easily. If we can keep our focus and not give in to the desire to want to swim faster on weekends by not backing down on the training during the week then we will be find. I really like the way we are training."
