The Wolverines donned their blue uniforms for the second time this season. The other time was Nov. 29 when they defeated Southern Mississippi 61-51 in the championship game of the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Classic.
Today's game marked a homecoming for Courtney Boylan, last year's Miss Minnesota Basketball. Boylan attended Chaska High School, about 15 minutes away from the University of Minnesota campus, and she had nearly 100 friends and family in attendance.
Michigan played in front of its second largest crowd this season. The final attendance at "The Barn" was 7,271 people. The Wolverines' largest crowd was 7,857 at Wisconsin (1/11/09).
The Wolverines did not attempt one free throw this afternoon, marking the first time this season that has happened.
Senior guard Stephany Skrba tied her career high with five steals.
Michigan's 28-20 halftime lead is the largest halftime lead the Wolverines have had in league action. It was also the second consecutive game in which the Wolverines held a halftime lead.
With 10 points, Carly Benson scored in double figures for the ninth time this season and the 37th time on her career.
Stephany Skrba's one blocked shot gives her 92 career blocks. She is eight blocks away from joining five other Wolverines with 100-plus career blocks.
Veronica Hicks tallied her sixth double-figure scoring game this season and her fourth in conference action.
Today was Alumni Day for Minnesota. The Golden Gophers honored Deb Hunter with a banner in the rafters. She joins Linda Roberts, Laura Coenen, Carol Ann Shudlick and Lindsey Whalen.
