Postgame Notes: Michigan 4, St. John's 2

Michigan finished out action in the Big East/Big Ten Challenge with a 3-0 record and a 4-0 overall start. The 4-0 start is the best for the Wolverines under head coach Rich Maloney and it is the best for U-M since a 6-0 start under Bill Freehan in 1991.
Maloney recorded career win 497 today as the countdown to 500 wins is at three midway through the team's eight-game spring trip. Maloney has 241 wins in seven seasons at Michigan.
Junior LHP Eric Katzman became the first Wolverine starting pitcher to work more than six innings in a game this season, allowing seven hits and one run with four strikeouts in seven innings to pick up his sixth career win.
Junior/sophomore DH Jake McLouth, who had both game-winning RBI on Saturday vs. Purdue and Cincinnati, was 3-for-4 in today's win vs. St. John's. McLouth has a pair of three-hit games in his first week of action as a Wolverine and is third on the team in hitting at .412 (7-for-17).
Junior RF Nick Urban extended his hitting streak to four games with his two-out, two-run single in the first inning against St. John's. Urban is second on the team with a .474 (9-for-19) batting average and he leads the team in hits (9), doubles (3), total bases (14) and slugging percentage (.737).
Junior 1B/RHP Mike Dufek pitched the final two innings today's win over St. John's to record the second save of his U-M career. Dufek, who leads the team with five RBI, drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning to drive in the final U-M run. Dufek had three strikeouts among his six outs in his season pitching debut.
Senior LF Kenny Fellows was 2-for-4 in today's win, including a run-scoring single to move his hitting streak to four games. Fellows leads the Wolverines in hitting with a .500 average (7-for-14).
Senior 2B Kevin Cislo and junior/sophomore SS Anthony Toth combined for five walks and three runs scored today's win. Cislo and Toth each walked and scored in the first inning and they each walked in the ninth with Cislo adding the fourth U-M run. Toth leads the team with seven walks, while Cislo has five, and they have both been hit by a pitch for a total of 14 free passes through four games from the top two batters in the U-M lineup.
