DURHAM, N.C. -- Senior/junior Sarah Conkle(Bellaire, Mich./Bellaire) earned third place to lead the No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's track and field team's pole vaulters at the Duke Asics Invitational on Friday (April 3) at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Conkle recorded a top height of 11-9 3/4 (3.60m) to take third-place honors for the Maize and Blue. Junior/sophomore Abbey Breidenstein(Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) also reached 11-9 3/4 (3.60m) and, based on tie-breakers, finished fifth. Junior/sophomore Carly Schiffer(Ovid, Mich./Ovid-Elsie) cleared the bar at 11-3 3/4 (3.45m) to earn an eighth-place finish. Duke's Amy Fryt recorded a top effort of 12-11 1/2 (3.95m) to win the competition.
The Michigan women's track and field team will complete its weekend of competition on Saturday (April 4) as Wolverines will be at both the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., and the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
