
Tauro, Peale Achieve Qualifying Marks at Stanford Meet

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Sophomore Danielle Tauro(Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and sophomore Kaitlyn Peale(Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) each met NCAA regional-qualifying standards on Saturday (May 2) at the Payton Jordan Invitational, hosted by Stanford at Cobb Track and Angell Field. Tauro met the qualifying standard in the 1,500-meter run, while Peale hit the standard in the 5,000-meter run.
In the 1,500 meters, Tauro finished third in section two and 14th overall with a time of 4:18.25. Tauro was less than a second behind section two winner Alicia Follmar of host Stanford (4:17.63). Former Wolverine Anna Willard (2007) posted a time of 4:06.90 to win the 1,500 meters overall.
Peale finished 27th in the 5,000-meter run while meeting the regional-qualifying standard, clocking in at 16:41.22. Colorado's Jennifer Barringer won the event in 15:07.64.
The Maize and Blue will make its lone home appearance of the 2009 outdoor season next Friday and Saturday (May 8-9) when it hosts the Len Paddock Invitational. Competition will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday and resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Ferry Field.
