ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Freshman midfielder Hamoody Saad (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn) of the University of Michigan men's soccer team was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week after tallying two assists and a goal in a pair of Wolverine victories last week.
This is Saad's first career TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week recognition and marks the second time this season a Wolverine has been named to the team. Senior forward Mauro Fuzetti (Houston, Texas/Stratford) earned a spot to the National Team of the Week on Sept. 15 for his efforts at the Michigan Invitational (Sept. 11-13).
Saad, who has started in each of U-M's seven games this season, posted his second career goal against Detroit on Wednesday (Sept. 16) and had two assists in U-M's 5-1 victory over Western Michigan on Saturday (Sept. 19) for a four-point week.
Saad is among U-M's offensive leaders this season. He is second on the team in assists with three and is tied for second on the team in goals with two. He also ranks third in points (7), shots (14) and shots on goal (14).
The Wolverines welcome Bowling Green to the U-M Soccer Complex on Wednesday (Sept. 23) for a non-conference game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
