Retyi's personal essay "A (Sentimental) Look Inside the Big Ten Championship Women's Gymnastics Team" earned third-place honors in the historical features category.
Retyi also received second-place all-district recognition for his profile on strength and conditioning coach Parker Whiteman entitled "Parker Whiteman Can't Lose" and for his coverage of Michigan's spring football alumni game "Jon Navarre is Cold Today." He also collected third-place all-district honors for his profile on Michigan offensive lineman Jon Ferrara and his father called "John Ferrara's 9-11."
MGoBlue.com web project manager Jon Ripperger and MGoBlue.com assistants Matt Baumer and Eric Bronson shared in the writing awards as editors on "On the Road with Michigan Football" and each of Retyi's all-district honors, while Athletic Media Relations publications director and managing editor of M Magazine, Barb Cossman, shared in the writing award as an editor on "One Final Season."
