Series Notes
Michigan drops to 69-47-5 all-time against Notre Dame. In South Bend, U-M is 22-22-2. The squads have split their last three regular-season series.
Team Notables
Michigan lost for the first time this season when leading after the first period (14-1-0). Furthermore, U-M lost for just the fourth time when scoring the first goal (16-4-0).
Caporusso's tally 36 seconds into the first period was U-M's second-fastest goal to start a game this season. Chad Langlais scored 26 seconds into the Jan. 9 game against WMU.
U-M allowed its third shorthanded goal of the season.
Individual Notes
Shawn Hunwick made his first career start for the Maize and Blue and his fourth career appearance. The junior made 20 saves.
Carl Hagelin kept his career-best point streak alive at 11 games with an assist. He has 2-10-12 totals since the streak began on Jan. 29.
Luke Glendening had an assist, giving him 1-4-5 totals over the last six games. He had points in four straight games from Feb. 12-20.
Louie Caporusso tied a season high with two goals. He also had a pair of tallies against Bowling Green on Feb. 9. During the month of February, he had 6-4-10 totals over nine games.
Caporusso is the third Wolverine to reach the 30-point level this season (13-17-30), joining classmates Carl Hagelin (14-25-39) and Matt Rust (11-21-32). He is now second on the team in goals (13), trailing Hagelin's 14 markers.
