PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan women's gymnastics junior Kylee Botterman (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) earned her second Big Ten Women's Gymnast of the Week honor this season on Monday (March 22) after winning a pair of individual titles en route to Michigan's highest team score of the season in a dual meet last Friday (March 19) at No. 1 Alabama.
Botterman won the vault (9.950) and all-around (39.550) titles in a field featuring eight All-Americans, helping her earn her second Gymnast of the Week laurel this month. Botterman was previously named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on March 1 after posting Michigan's first perfect 10.0 score in six seasons at Illinois. In the Alabama dual, Botterman added a 9.875 on uneven bars and a 9.900 on balance beam.
She has been among the best all-arounders in the nation this season, ranking second in the Big Ten and sixth in the NCAA with a regional qualifying score of 39.485. Botterman ranks ninth in the NCAA on the uneven bars, 16th on the floor exercise, 17th on vault and 22nd on floor exercise, accruing 23 individual event titles in 11 meets.
Botterman is the two-time defending Big Ten floor exercise champion and will look to make it three in a row when the Wolverines head to Columbus, Ohio, for the Big Ten Championships on Saturday (March 27) at 2 p.m. in St. John Arena. Michigan has won the last three Big Ten titles and 16 of the last 18 Big Ten Championships. The meet will be carried live by the Big Ten Network beginning at 2 p.m.
