SEATTLE, Wash. -- Sophomore Hamoody Saad (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn) and freshman Soony Saad (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn) scored goals at 75:18 and 85:14, respectively, to help the University of Michigan men's soccer team erase a two-goal, second-half deficit and earn a 2-2 tie with the host Redhawks in the final game of the Seattle University Tournament on Sunday (Sept. 12) at Championship Field.

Soony Saad
Soony Saad led the Wolverines with 10 shots, including three on goal, while senior Justin Meram (Shelby Township, Mich./Eisenhower) and Hamoody Saad each tallied eight shots. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Chris Blais (Seattle, Mich./Kennedy Memorial) posted a career-high seven saves in the tie.
Hamoody Saad struck first for the Wolverines in the 76th minute, drilling the ball past Seattle goalkeeper Ivan Dizdar on a free kick from about 20 yards out to make the Seattle lead, 2-1. Soony Saad then completed the Wolverine rally, placing a corner kick from senior forward Matt Schmitt (Muskegon, Mich./Reeths-Puffer) into the upper right hand corner.
The Wolverines outshot the Redhawks, 4-2, in each overtime period, but both teams had to settle for the draw.
Seattle got on the board first with a goal just 12 minutes into the contest. Kyle Peterman's initial shot was blocked off a Michigan defender, but he collected his own rebound and put it just inside the Michigan goal for the first score of the game. The Redhawks put another goal on the board just before the end of the first half when a shot deflected off a Michigan defender and into the lower left corner of the net.
Seattle opened the game by peppering Blais with several early shots, including two that reached the frame but were swatted away by Blais to keep the Redhawks off the board.
Michigan heads back to the friendly confines of U-M Soccer Stadium for its next two games. The Wolverines host in-state rival Oakland on Wednesday (Sept. 15) and will welcome Notre Dame for the U-M Soccer Stadium dedication game on Friday (Sept. 17). Kickoff for both games is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

QUOTES
Michigan Head Coach Steve Burns
On Seattle University's play ... "Seattle University came out aggressively and put us on the back foot. We had trouble clearing the ball safely and they made us twice pay for it. We felt we would be able to score goals and sustain pressure in the second half with the wind at our backs. We showed great character and composure as we pulled even and that is important to see at this time of the season."
