Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On today's game ... "I liked our team. I liked the way we started the game. I thought we carried the play. We had some good point shots, loose pucks, and territorial advantage and then we took a penalty. Our defensemen had the puck and tried to shoot it out, he got hooked, he stole the puck, put it in the net and two minutes later they stripped another one of our defensemen. Two mistakes, two goals, and that is kind of the way it has been going. The puck has been going in too easy, and boy it has been tough for us to get the puck in the net."
On overall team mistakes ... "I think it was different kinds of problems today. Those were two turnovers that were not intentional obviously, but we had the puck and we were not in trouble and it ended up in our net. The one thing I thought tonight that we were poorer at was our defense was getting trapped and they had about three two-on-ones on us in the first period. We corrected that and then after that we were better."
On the importance of quick starts ... "We came out with a fast start. That was a fast start, and then we could not capitalize. We couldn't score; we couldn't put our chances in. We end up down three to nothing. I thought the first eight minutes might have been the best eight minutes we have had all year."
On reasoning for switching up the lines ... "Because we are not getting anything going. We have got one line that has really had a chance to score, but we have got to get more offense going on our team. We will keep changing it until we find it. Now I liked what I saw in the third period, I thought we had a chance. We played with a little more authority and we looked liked we had a better chance to score."
Junior Forward Chris Brown
On what will be done to improve ... "We have to work harder. I know that's cliché, and we've been saying that for the past three weeks, but that's what it has to be. We can't do anything different. It's not the systems, it's not our goalie, it's not our defense, it's not our forwards, it's not coaching, it's not nothing -- it's just the will to want to win a game. And right now, we don't have it."
On whether the problems translated from previous games ... "Yes and no. Our puck touches need to better. I think we need to start going to the net a little harder. But at the same time I thought, I mean we lost, but I think we played better than we did Friday. It showed up on the scoreboard. We came out harder this game. We started off the first eight minutes; I don't think we had more than two shifts in our own zone. So, we're not getting bounces right now; hockey is still a little bit of luck and we need to find that little bit of luck and we'll turn this back around."
On fighting back after early goals ... "I mean, we dominated for eight minutes. We came back out, had a couple good shifts and turned out they scored again. It was kind of like that. We have to learn that we have to constantly keep going. We can't make a mistake or too many of them. Adversity doesn't define character, it reveals it. So we need to battle through this and reveal what kind of team we are. We are a good team, we are a contending team, and we're going to come out of this and go on a run of our own."
