
Pendleton Wraps Up Action at Jesse Owens Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- As the lone member of the University of Michigan women's track and field team to compete at the Jesse Owens Classic, sophomore Erin Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio/Woodmore) won the discus Saturday (April 23) in addition to participating in the hammer throw and shot put Sunday (April 24).
For the second straight season, Pendleton won the discus with a throw of 54.21 meters (177-10). Last season, the sophomore set the school record (56.87 meters, 186-7) in the event at this same competition.
On Sunday, Pendleton recorded a 10th-place finish in the shot put by throwing 13.35 meters (44-4 3/4) to start the day. In her final event, she finished 14th in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.56 meters (156-0).
The Wolverines will split three ways next week for the Drake Relays, Penn Relays and Hillsdale Relays, with action running Thursday through Saturday (April 28-30) for all three meets.
