
Former Wolverines Wade, Liske Compete at Olympic Trials

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Two former University of Michigan women's track and field athletes competed at the U.S. and Canadian Olympic Trials on Friday (June 30). The U.S. Trials are being held at Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., while the Canadian Trials wrapped up today at Foothills Athletic Park in Calgary, Canada.
Bettie Wade (2006-09) finished fourth in the heptathlon with 6,018 points -- just 170 points shy of qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team.
On the final day of the Canadian trials, recent U-M graduate Allison Liske (Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland East) finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.23 meters (46-8.25).
U-M alum Anna (Willard) Pierce (2007) will compete in the 1,500-meter finals tomorrow (Sunday, July 1) at 4:23 p.m. PDT on the last day of the U.S. Trials. The race can be seen live on NBC.
