Q U O T E S
Michigan Head Coach Jan Dowling
On the differences between the first and second days play ... "The biggest difference was eliminating some of our bigger numbers in the third round as opposed to rounds one and two. We have to get better at that as we continue to grow and learn. That was the biggest difference."
On the third round ... "I was proud of them today. We were sitting in last place, and it could have been easy to put our heads down and coast in. However, they came out with a lot of pride today. Although, it was not where we want to be, I saw a lot of fight and a lot of pride. That is what excites me."
On the continued improvement over the course of an event ... "They are a very coachable group. They work very hard. When we are at home, we are doing the right things that are going to continue to help us get better. Golf has a funny way of not really rewarding you right away. I do see progress even though our scores do not reflect that just yet. It's going to take time. Their attitudes, particularly when we are working at home, are phenomenal. Our practice rounds are extremely productive. It's learning to get more comfortable on the golf course and not allowing things to get out of control. That is all part of the learning process. I see a lot of positive things."
On what U-M will work on with only one fall event remaining ... "We are going to focus on the things we have focused on all fall. We are going to work on course management. We are going to work on scoring, and that is mostly short game -- putting, speed work, short putts and basic chips."
