ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team got goals from four different players en route to a 4-2 win over Iowa on Sunday (Oct. 5). The Wolverines remained unbeaten at U-M Soccer Stadium at 9-0 and move to 6-1 in Big Ten play.

Corinne Harris
Iowa got on the board first, as Michigan failed to clear the ball out of the box and Hawkeye senior Melanie Pickert one-timed a loose ball into the back of the net. Michigan goalkeeper Megan Hinz (Eldersburg, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) got a tip on the ball, but was unable to keep it out of the goal.
Later in the first half, Michigan responded with a pair of goals separated by just three minutes. Junior Lulu Haidar (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Crestwood) entered the game in the 37th minute, just in time to take a corner for the Maize and Blue. Off Haidar's corner, an Iowa defender headed the ball directly to the feet of junior Corinne Harris (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton College Prep), who one-timed the ball for the score.
Less than three minutes later, Haidar stepped to the left flag to take another corner for the Wolverines. Iowa's defense cleared the ball, but Harris regained possession and played the ball back out wide to Haidar. Haidar served a ball in the air to the middle of the six-yard box, where sophomore Nicky Waldeck (Chicago, Ill./Western Reserve Academy [OH]) was waiting to head the ball near post into the net. Waldeck's goal came at 50:54 and put Michigan up 2-1.
Iowa was able to even the score before halftime, as Amanda Lelek carried the ball down the left side through traffic and poked a ball through to Tory Harman, who laid a ball off to Natalie Krygier. Krygier was making a run toward the top of the box and struck the ball in stride, putting it into the upper-left corner.
Michigan came out of the gates quickly in the second half, taking a 3-2 lead just 56 seconds into the half. Sophomore Jessica Heifetz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) gained possession of the ball on the far right side and played a through ball to senior Jen Pace (Valley Village, Calif./Notre Dame) in the middle of the field. Pace turned and switched fields to freshman Taylor Timko (Rochester Hills, Mich./Pontiac Notre Dame Prep), who took a dribble and drilled the ball over the keeper's head far post and into the net.
In the 83rd minute, sophomore Madisson Lewis (Canton, Mich./Plymouth) inadvertently took down an Iowa player in the box, giving the Hawkeyes a penalty kick, but Melanie Pickert's shot went high.
Junior Christina Ordonez (Elmhurst, Ill./York) added the reassurance goal for Michigan in the 74th minute. Timko took a corner kick from the right side and Iowa goalkeeper Hannah Clark mishandled the ball in the air, tipping it to the feet of Ordonez who tapped it in near the goal line. Ordonez's goal came at 73:04 and produced the final score of 4-2.
Hinz earned her ninth win of the season in goal for Michigan, making one save.
The Wolverines will now hit the road next weekend to face Indiana on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
