OREM, Utah -- Junior forward Adi Walick netted the first goal of the 2026 season in the second half to lift the University of Michigan women's soccer team to a 1-1 draw at Utah Valley on Thursday (Aug. 13) at UCCU Stadium.

After Utah Valley's Wolverines (0-0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute, the U-M Wolverines (0-0-1) responded early in the second half. At 53:10, Walick stepped to the spot and calmly buried a penalty kick into the bottom-left corner, beating the UVU goalkeeper to level the match at 1-1.

Malia Zillman kept the Maize and Blue in striking distance in the opening half, making several key saves. At 26:50, Zillman stopped a shot headed for the bottom-left corner, then rose to tip another Utah Valley attempt over the crossbar. She added another save at 32:27 amid continued Utah Valley pressure, but the host Wolverines broke through shortly afterward to take the lead.

Michigan nearly found a second goal late in the match, generating opportunities, including back-to-back shots from Lilley Bosley and Campbell Jewell, but both attempts were turned away.

At 84 minutes, Utah Valley was issued a red card, giving U-M an 11-on-10 advantage for the final six minutes.

Michigan finished with 13 shots on the night but was unable to capitalize on the late advantage, settling for the 1-1 draw.

U-M continues its two-game swing through the Beehive State with a game against Utah State at 7 p.m. MT on Sunday (Aug. 16) inside Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field. The match will be streamed live on the Pac-12 YouTube channel.
