BATON ROUGE, La. -- Sophomore sprinter Cindy Ofili (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti) led a split squad of University of Michigan women's track and field team members at the LSU Alumni Gold meet held Saturday (April 19) at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium. Ofili set a career-best time in the 100-meter hurdles to finish fourth.
Ofili participated in three events at the LSU Alumni Gold, the 100-meter hurdles, 4x100 meter relay and the 200 meter dash. She placed fourth in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles (13.08 seconds) and 13th in the finals of the 200-meter dash (24.22 seconds). Her time in the hurdles set a career-best mark, eclipsing her previous mark of 13.30 seconds set in the finals at last season's Big Ten Championships (May 12, 2013).
Senior Erin Busbee (Cleveland, Ohio/Collinwood) finished third in the B section of the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 13.66 seconds. She also competed in the long jump, placing fifth with a leap of 5.92 meters (19-05.25 feet).
Michigan will return to the track at the Penn Relays beginning Thursday, April 24.
N O T E S
• Fifth-year senior Joanna Fleming had a seventh-place showing in the hammer throw. Her throw of 53.22 meters (174-07 feet) was 20 inches from equaling her career-best throw.
• Junior Amanda Adwon (52.26m) and freshman Abby Grinnell (48.45m) set personal best marks in the hammer throw. Adwon placed 10th and Grinnell 15th in the event. Grinnell also set a career-best mark in the shot put with a toss of 13.94 meters (45-09.00 ft.).
• Sophomore Maya Long finished eighth in the finals for the 400-meter dash (54.79 seconds). Her time was .09 off her career-best time set earlier this month (54.70) at the tri-meet with Virginia and California.
• Freshman Paris Parnell finished ninth in the B section of the 100m dash with a career-best time of 12.59 seconds.
• Freshman Sami Michell placed 12th in the B section of the 100m hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.12 seconds.
• Michigan's 4x400 relay team consisting of Sami Michell, Maya Long, Emily Wee and Chinyere Onimo finished seventh with a time of 3:51.46.
