Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On what the difference was tonight ... "I liked our start to the game. Then they pushed back. I think they scored on their first chance. And that's the way the game was played. They got a couple of timely goals, and we bent, but we didn't break. It was good to see our team win the third period. It was a good game, and either team could win. That's how close these games are."
On rebounding from Michigan State's goals ... "They were kind of fluky goals. The puck bounced in and we didn't like the goals, but we've got to play the game. Our team wasn't rattled. They weren't pointing fingers. They were good. We knew we had to get the next goal. It was a hard fought game and I like the way our team played. It's one of the better games we've played in here in recent years, even though we won a game in here last year. I like the way we started the game and I like the way we finished it."
On Travis Lynch's goal ... "He's really a centerman and we put him on the right wing to bolster Boo (Nieves') line and then JT (Compher) went down and we moved him up on (Andrew) Copp's line and sure enough he ends up scoring the winner. He's making the most of his senior year."
On the Big Ten title coming down to the last game ... "It's going to come down to the last game. Just because you're playing at home doesn't mean anything. It could mean something but the pressure was on us. We had to win two games to have a chance at first place. So we put ourselves in a good position. We'll go home and see what happens tomorrow."
U-M Senior Forward Travis Lynch
On scoring the game-winning goal after taking a big hit early ... "It was a rough first period. We came back and (Andrew) Copp made a great play late in the third to find me which was huge."
On the importance of tomorrow night's game ... "It's Senior Night and the last game at Yost. It's exciting for our team and we need to pull it out here."
U-M Freshman Forward Dexter Dancs
On his first period goal ... "I just got out there and Boo (Nieves) passed me the puck on the left side. I was coming in and I saw JT (Compher) streaking towards the net on the far side, so I kind of dumped it behind the net for him and he made a really nice play behind the net, and spun it to me and I just put it in."
On playing for a Big Ten championship tomorrow night ... "It's going to be an unreal experience. The seniors have been here for a long time. They had a couple tough years and we have a chance to do something special, especially on Senior Night."
U-M Freshman Defenseman Cutler Martin
On scoring a goal in East Lansing, his hometown ... "It's my first time playing here at Munn against the Spartans so that's a big day. A little nerves going when we pulled up. You know, that's my hometown, where I cruise around in the summer. It was a lot of fun to play here. I know a lot of those guys on the team and they're all great players, but I'm glad that we got the win tonight."
On if he's ever had a breakaway in a game ... "That was my first breakaway. I've never had a breakaway before. I practiced that move. I trust tried to look the goalie off and shoot the puck. It went in. I'm surprised, but that's where I was going."
