With tonight's win, the Wolverines improved to 5-3 in the all-times series against Georgia. The victory snapped a two-game Georgia win streak in the series.
Michigan improved to 89-46 in all-time NCAA Tournament games and 11-14 in NCAA Super Regional matchups.
Junior Sierra Romero scored a pair of runs to up her career total to 223 and tied Michigan's career record in the category. She shares the top spot with Traci Conrad (1996-99). It is the third Wolverine career record that Romero has broken or tied over the last three games. She also improved on her own career RBI mark (222).
In addition to her career records, Romero also improved on her own single-season Michigan records in runs scored (82) and RBI (79) tonight.
In Romero (21) and sophomore Kelly Christner (20), Michigan boasts a pair of 20-home run hitters for the third time in program history. Samantha Findlay and Jessica Merchant first accomplished the feat in 2005 with 21 apiece, while Dorian Shaw and Maggie Viefhaus achieved it in 2010 with 21 and 20, respectively.
Christner leads the Wolverines with 26 multi-hit games this season.
Sophomore RHP Megan Betsa boasts 14 double-digit strikeout games this season, including eight of her last 12. She has struck out 33 over 21.2 innings in NCAA Tournament play this season.
Betsa upped her season strikeout total to 308 -- the seventh-best single-season mark in program history. With 458 career strikeouts, Betsa also moved to ninth among U-M's all-time leaders in the category. She is seven shy of the eighth spot, currently held by Kelly Kovach (1992-95).
Betsa has allowed just 13 hits over her last nine appearances -- a stretch that featured a seven-inning no-hitter at Maryland and one-hit games in five subsequent games against Penn State, Northwestern and Oakland. She has also given up only 14 runs over her last 90.2 innings pitched.
