Junior Katelynn Flaherty led all scorers with 23 points, going 7-for-8 from the floor in the second half to spearhead the Wolverine offense. The Golden Grizzlies answered with an 11-1 run that spanned the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second to climb back within three points, 22-19, with 8:20 on the second-quarter clock. The Wolverines ripped off a 15-4 run that was capped by a Thompson fastbreak layup from Gondrezick, moving ahead 37-23 with 3:24 to go before the half. Michigan did not let up from there, allowing just four more points the rest of the half for a 21-point halftime lead.
Michigan took a 48-27 lead into the locker room at the half, taking advantage of 54.3-percent (19-for-35) shooting from the floor. Thome led all scorers with 13 points, while Thompson and Gondrezick each chipped in eight for the Maize and Blue.
Flaherty took over in the second half, missing just one shot on eight attempts to finish with her 31st 20-point game. Michigan's lead dipped to less than 20 points for the first minute of the third quarter, but a Flaherty layup at the 8:59 mark pushed U-M's advantage back to 20, and it never dipped below that the rest of the contest.
