The University of Michigan women's basketball team (2-0) concludes a four-game homestand to begin this season this week, hosting Howard on Friday (Nov. 18) and Western Michigan on Monday (Nov. 21). Both games are set for a 7 p.m. tip at Crisler Center.
• Michigan will conclude a four-game homestand to begin the season on Monday (Nov. 21) against Western Michigan. Following that contest, the Maize and Blue will play seven straight away from Crisler Center. U-M will face Gonzaga, Winthrop and Florida State in the Virgin Islands over Thanksgiving before coming back to play in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at Georgia Tech (Dec. 1). Michigan will travel to Xavier (Dec. 5) and conclude the swing with games in the Golden State at San Diego State (Dec. 9) and UCLA (Dec. 11). U-M will be back at Crisler Center on Dec. 13 against Ohio.
• Michigan had six players reach double figures in both games last weekend, a feat that had only been accomplished one other time in program history. Katelynn Flaherty, Kysre Gondrezick and Hallie Thome each scored at least 10 points in both games. Siera Thompson, Jillian Dunston, Maria Backman, Kayla Robbins, Nicole Munger and Boogie Brozoski each scored at least 10 points in a game last weekend. Michigan averaged 22.0 assists per game, and each Wolverine who saw court action scored between the two games against Oakland (Nov. 11) and Niagara (Nov. 13).
• Michigan has reached the 100-point mark 14 times in school history, with four of those games happening under fifth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico. With a pair of 100-point games to start the season, it marks the second time in school history that U-M has topped the century mark in back-to-back games.
• Head coach Kim Barnes Arico enters her fifth season in Ann Arbor after becoming the program's first head coach to record four straight 20-win seasons. She has 85 wins in four seasons, already ranking fourth all-time at U-M. With two more wins, she will move into third place on the all-time wins list. Her .612 winning percentage is tops by a Michigan women's basketball coach, and with 15 more wins she will become only the second coach in program history with 100 victories in Ann Arbor.
• Howard (0-2) comes to Ann Arbor following a 95-49 loss at West Virginia on Tuesday (Nov. 15). The Bison have two players scoring in double figures in Te'Shya Heslip (24.0 ppg, 6.5 apg, 4.0 rpg) and Erin Blaine (10.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg). Howard is averaging 63.5 points per game on 37.1-percent shooting. This will be the first meeting between Michigan and Howard.
• The Broncos, who picked up a season-opening win over Davidson, will host Michigan State prior to coming to Ann Arbor on Monday (Nov. 21). WMU had three players reach double figures in its first game in Breanna Mobley (27), Marley Hill (33) and Meredith Shipman (10). Western Michigan leads the all-time series against Michigan, 15-13, but U-M has won three straight.
• Senior Siera Thompson has already totaled 200 career three-pointers, becoming just the second player in school history to reach 200. Thompson is about to become the career leader as Carmen Reynolds holds the Michigan career record with 205. Katelynn Flaherty is hot on Thompson's heels, ranking fourth all-time with 188 triples.
