WOLVERINE BITES
Three of the four current Wolverines making the trip will compete in the all-around, as sophomore Dmitri Belanovski and freshmen Anthony McCallum and Emyre Cole, a Las Vegas native, will take part on all six events. Senior captain Nolan Novak will participate on high bar as well as his signature event, pommel horse.
The headliner of the Wolverine contingent, per usual, is Sam Mikulak, who will be competing alongside his Team Hilton USOTC teammates in the all-around competition. Former teammates Stacey Ervin (floor, vault, parallel bars, high bar) and Adrian de los Angeles (all-around) will also be competing.
Novak and McCallum will be competition in session one of qualifying on Thursday at 10:50 a.m. PST, while the rest of the group with Wolverine ties will attempt to qualify in session two, which begins at 4:20 p.m. PST on Thursday.
Following the Winter Cup, NCAA gymnastics will transition to a five-up, five-count scoring system, as opposed to the early season six-up, five-count scoring system.
The full Wolverine squad will begin action once again Saturday, March 5, on its Spring Break trip in Puerto Rico. Michigan will take on Penn State, as well as the Puerto Rican National Team.
