WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A trio of divers from the third-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships on Saturday (March 12), scoring top-10 finishes on the final day of the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships inside the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.
With Zone C allotted 10 qualifying spots on platform, a top-10 finish was needed to advance to the NCAA Championships. All five divers made the final, but it was junior Allie Murphy (eighth, 443.15), senior captain Sarah Kamstra (ninth, 442.25) and senior Elena Ghormley (10th, 441.30) that made the cut.
All three divers will be making their first appearance at the NCAA Championships. There, Murphy and Kamstra will also compete on three-meter by virtue of their top-12 finishes in that event yesterday (Murphy was 10th, Kamstra was 11th). They will not compete on one-meter.
The Wolverines' roster for the NCAA Championships now stands at 12 individuals.
Michigan closes its season out at the NCAA Championships, held Wednesday through Saturday (March 16-19) in Atlanta, Georgia.
