PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team fell, 22-8, against the No. 5 Brown Bears Saturday (March 12) from Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Senior/junior goalie Gerald Logan made the second-most saves in school history in a single game with 17, while freshman Brent Noseworthy led U-M with a hat trick.
The Bears, who boast the nation's top offense heading into the game at 17 goals a contest, jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first 12:40 of the contest, with scores coming from four different players. It was senior Peter Kraus who gave the Wolverines their first marker of the game at 1:47 to make it 4-1. Brown tacked on two more to close the opening quarter, leading 6-1.
Noseworthy snagged U-M's second of the game just a 1:12 into the second, sending the game into the half with U-M trailing 10-2. The Bears outscored the Wolverines 8-1 in the third quarter and led 18-3 after three.
In the fourth, the Maize and Blue outscored Brown 5-4, keyed by two goals from senior/junior Brendan Gaughan and Noseworthy. Sophomore PJ Bogle also added a marker in the quarter, his first of the season.
Senior close defender Chris Walker had five ground balls and two turnovers, while senior Brad Lott went 7-of-16 with two ground balls against the nation's top face-off man in Brown's Will Gural.

U-M now begins a three-game homstand, starting with a 1 p.m. contest against Dartmouth on March 19 at Michigan Stadium. [ Tickets ]
Junior attackman Ian King was held scoreless in the contest, snapping a 26-game streak with at least a point.
Freshman MJ Melillo made his first collegiate start on close defense.
The goals for Brendan Gaughan was his first of the season and 10th and 11th of his career.
The hat trick for Brent Noseworthy is U-M's eighth of the season, while sophomore Pat Tracy had a career-high three assists.
