ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After opening conference play with a three-game sweep at Northwestern (April 1-3), the No. 17-ranked University of Michigan baseball team (21-6, 3-0 Big Ten) will return to Big Ten play with a three-game series against Minnesota this weekend (April 8-10). With a 5-0 win over Bowling Green at home on Wednesday, the Minnesota series will wrap up a stretch of four consecutive games at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.

» With four wins last week with a three-game sweep of Northwestern, the University of Michigan baseball team now boasts a 21-6 overall record. Through 27 games, the team's record marks Michigan's the team's best start since 1987, when the Wolverines won both the regular season and Big Ten Conference Tournament titles to advance to an NCAA Regional.
» After spending the first six weeks of the season bouncing around the Division I polls, Michigan has risen to No. 17 in the Baseball America Poll and No. 18 in the Perfect Game Poll. The Wolverines maintained a top-25 ranking in the Collegiate Baseball News Poll (No. 20) and the NCBWA Poll (No. 21). Finally, Michigan made its first appearance of the season earlier this week with a selection to the final spot in the prestigious D1Baseball Poll.
» With six innings pitching and eight strikeouts last weekend in his start against Northwestern, junior LHP Brett Adcock surpassed the 200 career-K mark and now ranks ninth all-time in Michigan history.
» Senior outfielder Matt Ramsay finished last week batting .438 with a 1.000 slugging percentage, eight runs on seven hits and a team-high five walks en route to the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week award. He also recorded a team-high nine RBI for the week with three homers and was a perfect 2-2 in stolen bases.
» Despite a makeup of mostly sophomores and freshmen, Michigan's elite pitching staff ranks among the top 30 programs in the country with a 3.18 earned-run average, ninth in the country for strikeouts per nine innings (9.6) and fourth in hits allowed per nine innings (6.48). » Through 25 games this season junior Harrison Wenson continues to lead the way for Michigan offensively, boasting an impressive .394 batting average and leading the Wolverines with four home runs and 32 RBI. His batting average ranks sixth in the Big Ten, while his team-leading .606 slugging percentage ranks fifth in the Big Ten. Additionally, starters Jake Bivens (.385), Carmen Benedetti (.344), Cody Bruder (.333) and Drew Lugbauer (.308) are all hitting more than .300 on the season, while freshman Ako Thomas leads the team and the Big Ten Conference with seven sacrifice bunts.
