MANHEIM, Pa. -- University of Michigan senior/junior Alec Pantaleo has been added to the lineup card for the National Wrestling Coaches Association's 52nd annual All-Star Classic, slated for Sunday, Nov. 5, at Princeton's Jadwin Gym in Princeton, New Jersey.
Pantaleo, a 2016 NCAA All-American at 149 pounds, will face Rider's B.J. Clagon in the 157-pound bout -- Pantaleo's first unofficial match at his new weight class. Clagon, who will be making his second appearance at the all-star event, is also an All-American, having placed fifth at 149 pounds at the 2015 NCAA Championships. He also reached the Round of 12 last season.
Pantaleo carries a 49-17 collegiate career, including a 27-8 mark during his All-America season in 2015-16. He redshirted last year after competing at the Junior World Championships in Macon, France. He and Clagon have never previously met in collegiate competition.
Pantaleo joins Michigan junior/sophomore Stevan Micic on the card. Micic will face South Dakota State's Seth Gross in the 133-pound contest. Michigan has had 39 wrestlers earn All-Star Classic selections, including six over the last three seasons. Pantaleo's uncle, Joe Pantaleo, previously represented Michigan at the event, winning a 6-1 decision over Bloomsburg's Dave Morgan at the 1989 All-Star Classic in Philadelphia.
