BEFORE THE GAME
• Michigan opened its season Saturday (Nov. 11) with an 86-66 victory over North Florida in a Maui Jim Maui Invitational Mainland Match-Up at Crisler Center. • Duncan Robinson (21) and Charles Matthews (20) -- in his U-M debut after transferring from Kentucky -- gave the Wolverines two 20-point scorers for the first time since 2015. The last was March 3, 2015, at Northwestern (Zak Irvin, 28 and Aubrey Dawkins, 21).
• Hard to believe but with his career-best 12 rebounds, Moritz Wagner recorded just his second career double-double after he added in his 18 points against North Florida.

• After redshirting last season, Austin Davis made his collegiate debut and scored three points after a made free throw, offensive board and putback.
• Six Wolverines made their debuts in the opener against North Florida: Charles Matthews (transfer, Kentucky), Jaaron Simmons (graduate transfer, Ohio), Davis (redshirt) and freshmen Eli Brooks, Isaiah Livers and Jordan Poole.
WHAT'S AHEAD?
• Michigan will make it three games in the first six days to open the season with a Thursday (Nov. 16) home tilt with Southern Mississippi at Crisler Center. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the game part of the BTN Plus Student U package.
• Following the fast and furious start to the season, the Wolverines will depart early Friday morning (Nov. 17) for the 2017 Maui Jim Maui Invitational, Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 20-22, at the Lahaina Civic Center on Maui. U-M is making its third trip to the Hawai'i tournament hosted by DIII Chaminade.
