ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 21-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (11-2, 0-0 Big Ten) will kick off Big Ten play at home Thursday (Dec. 28) at 6 p.m., hosting Penn State (9-4, 0-0 Big Ten) at Crisler Center. Tickets are just $1, and fans can get 20 percent off at any Crisler M-Den store. The game can also be seen on the Big Ten Network.
• Head coach Kim Barnes Arico has racked up 122 wins during her six seasons in Ann Arbor, coming in at No. 2 on the school's all-time wins list. Sue Guevara, currently the head coach at Central Michigan, is the Michigan career wins leader with 123. KBA's .650 winning percentage at Michigan is the highest in program history. She is also eight wins away from reaching 400 for her career.
• Michigan has ripped off seven straight wins in the month of December, starting with an 86-49 win at LIU Brooklyn on Dec. 2. Michigan has turned it up on both ends this month, averaging 81.3 points per game on 52.7 percent shooting while yielding just 47.3 points per game on 30.3 percent shooting. The Wolverines have four players scoring in double figures in December: Katelynn Flaherty (20.4 ppg), Hallie Thome (15.0), Nicole Munger (11.6) and Deja Church (10.0).
• Michigan has held its opponents to single digits in 10 of the last 28 quarters of play after allowing just four points in both the second and third quarters to Delaware State (Dec. 21). U-M has held six of its last seven opponents to 50 points or less.
• Michigan has won seven straight games, the fifth-longest winning streak in program history. It is the longest winning streak for the Maize and Blue since winning the first seven games of the 2015-16 season. It is the third time under head coach Kim Barnes Arico that the Maize and Blue has won at least seven straight, with the Wolverines setting the record with 10 straight wins during KBA's first season (2012-13).
• For just the fourth time in program history, U-M has won 11 games during the non-conference portion of its schedule. Michigan has accomplished the feat three times under sixth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico -- 2012-13, 2016-17, 2017-18. Michigan's 11-2 start is the best since the 2012-13 Wolverines started 15-2 in KBA's first season. It is only the third time in school history that U-M has won 11 of its first 13 games.
• Penn State (9-4) comes to Ann Arbor after a 75-66 overtime loss at American on Dec. 20. PSU features a trio of double-figure scorers in Teniya Page (17.3 ppg), Amari Carter (14.3 ppg) and Jaida Travascio-Green (11.6 ppg). The Lady Lions are scoring 70.4 points per game on 40.6 percent shooting while allowing 62.8 points per game on 37.6 percent shooting. Penn State won the lone meeting between the two schools last year and leads the all-time series, 32-12.
• Thursday's tilt against Penn State is Michigan's last home game until Jan. 7, when U-M will host Ohio State for the Crash Crisler event.
