COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Several student-athletes from the No. 23-ranked University of Michigan women's track and field team competed on the first day of the two-day Jesse Owens Classic on Friday (April 21) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Elizabeth Prieskorn and Kali Dent both finished top-10 in their respective events, while Natalie Baxter made her outdoor debut in a Michigan uniform.
Prieskorn threw 35.51m (116-6) in the javelin to finish 10th overall, just missing the final by one spot in the standings.
Both Baxter and Dent opened up their outdoor seasons at 5,000 meters. Baxter ran 17:55.00 in the showcase section of the race, while Dent was 10th in the open section in 18:17.08.
Day two begins for the Wolverines on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the long jump. Action on the track for U-M kicks off at 12:20 p.m.
