ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's gymnastics program announced today (Monday, Sept. 25) its 2018 schedule that features 12 weekends against some of the best teams in the nation.
The bookends of the home schedule are meets against teams from the 2017 NCAA Super Six. The season will start off with a bang on Jan. 5 when Alabama comes to Ann Arbor for the first time since 2011. Fast forward to March 10 and the Wolverines will close the regular season at home against Utah for the third time in the last five years.
Other home meets include rival Ohio State on Jan. 13, Maryland on Feb. 4, and Michigan State on March 4.
The Wolverines will compete against back-to-back NCAA champion Oklahoma when they travel to Norman, Oklahoma, on Saturday, March 3. The Wolverines will also be on the road at Nebraska (Jan. 27), one of four teams on the 2018 schedule that finished ranked in the top 10 a year ago.
U-M will have a special opportunity on Friday, Feb. 23, when it competes in the Elevate the Stage meet at the SeaGate Centre in Toledo, Ohio, with Denver, Utah State and Bowling Green. The meet will be held on podium, one of only four college meets to have the NCAA Championships podium setup prior to the national meet in 2018. The others will be held in Reno, Nevada (Jan. 12-15); Augusta, Georgia (March 2-4); and Huntsville, Alabama (March 9-11).
The Wolverines will also have a non-conference meet at North Carolina State on Feb. 17 and a conference dual at Illinois on Jan. 19. This season Michigan will be at Rutgers for the Big Five Meet along with Penn State, Iowa and Minnesota. The Big Ten Championships will take place March. 24 in Champaign, Illinois.
New season tickets are on sale now starting at $25. Season ticket renewals will be made available later this fall with options to reposition or increase the number of season tickets.
