ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 23-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (14-4, 3-2 B1G) kicks off a two-game road swing at Nebraska (12-5, 3-1 B1G) on Saturday (Jan. 13) at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tip is set for 7 p.m. CST.
• U-M is in the midst of playing seven games in 20 days to open Big Ten action. Four of those seven games have been back-to-back road games as Michigan will play at Ohio State on Jan. 16 to conclude the stretch.
• Junior Hallie Thome has continued to have a dominant presence in the paint this season, averaging 16.6 points per game on 64.3 percent shooting -- the eighth-best mark in the country. She is also grabbing 7.2 rebounds in 29.8 minutes per game. Thome has four double-doubles on the season after going for 11 points and 11 rebounds against Indiana (Jan. 10). For her career, she is up to 12th in scoring (1,393), 16th in rebounding (583) and remains U-M's career leader in field goal percentage at .625.
• The Huskers (12-5, 3-1 B1G) come into the contest on a three-game winning streak after defeating Illinois, 80-72, on Wednesday (Jan. 10). Nebraska features four double-figure scorers in Hannah Whitish (13.6 ppg), Taylor Kissinger (12.3 ppg), Maddie Simone (11.0 ppg) and Kate Cain (10.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg). Nebraska is averaging 71.1 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting while allowing 64.8 points per game on 36.3 percent shooting to its opponents. U-M swept the season series last season.
• Freshman Hailey Brown broke out in a big way in Michigan's win over Indiana on Thursday (Jan. 10), scoring a career-high 23 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the floor. Brown hit her first seven shots and went 3-for-3 overall from three-point range en route to the first 20-point game of her career. She joins Katelynn Flaherty and Hallie Thome as Wolverines on the current roster with a 20-point game in their career. Brown entered the game with two three-pointers on the season, more than doubling her season total in the game. Brown, who is averaging 8.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, is just the second freshman under sixth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico to be a full-time starter -- joining Thome (2015-16).
• Michigan has found its shooting touch in its last 12 games, shooting more than 50 percent six times -- including its first 60-percent showing since Nov. 23, 2015, after shooting 61.4 percent against Delaware State (Dec. 21). Michigan is now up to second in the Big Ten and 11th nationally in field goal percentage at .479.
• U-M is 47-5 under head coach Kim Barnes Arico when scoring at least 80 points. Michigan has reached that mark seven times this season, including in the last win against Indiana. U-M has scored at least 80 points in each of its three Big Ten wins.
