» After falling behind by five points with 2:59 left in the third quarter, Michigan answered with a 9-0 run over the next 1:59 to take a 58-54 lead off a Hallie Thome tip in. U-M did not trail the rest of the game in picking up the program's fifth win over a top-10 team.
» Thome led a trio of 20-point scorers, going for a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds. Katelynn Flaherty scored 21 points -- 18 in the second half -- and Nicole Munger turned in a career-high 20 points.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The No. 19-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team went on a 9-0 run over 1:59 in the third quarter to take four-point lead with 51 seconds left in the period and never trailed again in an 84-75 win over No. 8-ranked Ohio State on Tuesday night (Jan. 16) at Value City Arena.
Michigan was down by five, 54-49, with 2:59 left in the third quarter before going on a 9-0 run that featured six points from junior Hallie Thome and a step-back triple from senior Katelynn Flaherty. The run was punctuated by a tip-in from Thome with just 51 seconds remaining in the third to give Michigan a 58-54 lead.
Ohio State got within two twice in the fourth quarter but junior Nicole Munger answered with a short jumper in transition to push Michigan's lead to four, 66-62, with 8:44 left. OSU got no closer the rest of the way as U-M got 13 points from Thome on 5-for-5 shooting from the floor and 3-for-3 shooting from the free-throw line over the final 10 minutes to secure the win.
Thome led a trio of 20-point scorers, recording her fifth double-double of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Flaherty scored 21 points, with 18 coming in the second half on 6-for-9 shooting over the final 20 minutes. Munger turned in a career-high 20 points to go with six boards and four assists, with freshman Deja Church going for nine points and a career-high six assists. Michigan outrebounded Ohio State, 44-31, getting 10 from senior Jillian Dunston in addition to Thome's 11. U-M also held the Buckeyes to just 36.1 percent shooting (26-for-72) while shooting 53.7 percent (29-for-54) from the floor.
Michigan came out of the gates and took a 7-4 lead before OSU answered with an 8-0 run. Munger scored five straight and Church hit a pair of free throws with 2:01 on the clock to cut the lead to three, 20-17. Michigan trailed by as many as 10 in the opening 10 minutes
Church hit a straight-away three-pointer to beat the shot clock on Michigan's final possession, sending U-M to the locker room down just five (41-36). Michigan shot 54.5 percent (12-for-22) in the first half, led by 13 points from Munger and nine from Church.
Michigan scored the first five points of the third quarter on a Flaherty corner triple and a Flaherty layup in transition to tie the score at 41 and force an OSU timeout with 7:47 on the clock. Michigan went up, 43-41, when Thome scored on a transition layup with 7:13 left in the third quarter, but Ohio State scored seven straight to regain a five-point lead on a deep three from Kelsey Mitchell. Flaherty answered with her second triple of the period to cut the Ohio State lead to two, 48-46, with 4:26 left in the quarter.
Ohio State scored six of the next nine points to set up Michigan's decisive run at the end of the third.
Michigan will be back at Crisler Center on Saturday (Jan. 20), when they host Illinois as part of Alumni Weekend. The game is at 6 p.m. and can be seen on Big Ten Network.
