ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 22-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (12-3, 1-1 B1G) wraps up a two-game road swing at Wisconsin (7-8, 0-2 B1G) on Thursday (Jan. 4) at the Kohl Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m. CST and can also be seen on the Big Ten Network.
• Head coach Kim Barnes Arico has racked up 123 wins during her six seasons in Ann Arbor, tying current Central Michigan head coach Sue Guevara atop the U-M wins list. Barnes Arico can become the all-time leader with one more victory. Her .651 winning percentage at Michigan is the highest in program history; She is also seven wins away from reaching 400 for her career.
• Michigan received its first preseason ranking in the Associated Press poll since 2001, coming in at No. 24 to begin the season. U-M has stayed in the poll since then, earning a No. 22 ranking this week (Jan. 1). Michigan's nine-week run in the poll ties its longest streak in school history. U-M made nine straight appearances from Nov. 6, 2001 through Jan. 7, 2002. Michigan is also in at No. 20 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll this week.
• Michigan has held its opponents to single digits in 11 quarters this season after allowing just eight points in the first quarter to Penn State (Dec. 28). Michigan is second in the Big Ten in scoring defense at 57.8 points per game, joining Rutgers as the only teams to hold opponents under 60 points on the season. Michigan is also second in the conference in field goal percentage defense (.355) and three-point field goal percentage defense (.294).
• Sophomore Kayla Robbins is one of eight Wolverines to appear in all 15 games this season and has played some of the best basketball of her career in the past three games. Robbins is averaging 10.3 points per game on 70.5 percent shooting over the last three games, matching her career high with 12 points at Delaware State (Dec. 21) and coming through with 11 points at Iowa (Dec. 31). On the season, she is averaging 4.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game.
• Senior Katelynn Flaherty continues to score the ball effectively, pushing her season average to 22.8 points per game -- fifth nationally -- after averaging 28.5 points per game in U-M's two Big Ten games. She has found her touch from three-point range lately, making 19 three-pointers over the last three games on 46.3 percent shooting. With 341 three-pointers in her career, she has become the all-time leader at U-M -- man or woman. With 2,361 career points, she is just 81 points away from Glen Rice's all-time total of 2,442.
• Wisconsin (7-8, 0-2 B1G) enters the game on a three-game losing streak after dropping contests to Milwaukee (67-64), Iowa (56-46) and Purdue (57-35). UW's leading scorer Cayla McMorris (14.6 ppg) has missed the last three games. Marsha Howard (11.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg) is Wisconsin's other double-figure scorer as the Badgers are averaging 64.3 points per game on 40.5 percent shooting. UW leads the all-time series against Michigan, 40-26, but the Wolverines have won six of the last seven against the Badgers. It is the only meeting between the two teams this season.
