Wolverine Bites
• Michigan returns to Crisler Center for the third time in two seasons -- and has another Crisler dual slated for Jan. 12 vs. Illinois -- after not competing in the venue since 2007. Though dropping both of their Crisler duals last season, the Wolverines wrestled quite well in losses to No. 1 Penn State (25-12) and No. 2 Ohio State (18-15).
• U-M shattered its program attendance record with a crowd of 8,303 for its "The Clash at Crisler" dual last season against rival Ohio State. Previously, the Wolverines' largest recorded crowd was 5,200, set at the Michigan/Michigan State dual on Feb. 25, 1967, at Yost Field House. U-M ranked ninth among the nation's attendance leaders -- fifth in the Big Ten -- with a 2,615 average crowd size in 2017-18.
• Redshirt juniors Stevan Micic and Logan Massa returned from injury to make their season debuts in the Wolverines' dual win at Central Michigan last Sunday (Nov. 11). It was Micic's first action since suffering an injury the semifinals of the Poland Open in September that kept him out of the World Championships, while Massa competed for the first time since the 2018 NCAA Championships in March. Both scored second-period falls in their debuts.
• Redshirt sophomore Kanen Storr and redshirt freshman Jelani Embree also were victorious in their first ever dual-meet appearances in the Maize and Blue. Storr, an offseason transfer from Iowa State, earned a 15-5 major decision over CMU's Drew Marten at 141 pounds, while Embree scored three takedowns to beat Landon Pelham, 7-4, at 184.
• Though still quite early in the season, four Wolverine starters maintain perfect records this year, Storr is 5-0 after winning 141-pound title at the season-opening Michigan State Open (Nov. 3), while Micic, Massa and redshirt junior Myles Amine are all officially 1-0 on the season.
• Among the Wolverines' returners, three -- Micic, Myles Amine and fifth-year senior Alec Pantaleo -- already own at least 70 career wins. Micic leads the pack with a 75-13 mark, while Amine and Pantaleo are 72-16 and 73-15, respectively. Last season, Adam Coon became the 36th Wolverine wrestler to reach 100 wins, finishing his career with a stellar 116-15 record.
• Redshirt juniors Myles Amine and Stevan Micic were named the Wolverines' 2018-19 team captains following practice last Friday (Nov. 9). Amine and Micic are both two-time NCAA All-Americans, twice finishing top four in the nation, and two-time Academic All-Big Ten and NWCA All-Academic honorees.
• Four Wolverines earned top-four finishes at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open last Sunday (Nov. 11) in Cleveland, Ohio. Freshman Max Maylor captured the 174-pound title in the white division, while fellow freshmen Will Lewan and Mason Parris took third place at 157 pounds and heavyweight, respectively, in the gold division. All three competed unattached, while sophomore/freshman Jack Medley took fourth at 125 pounds.
• After the Wolverines defeated in-state rival Central Michigan, 32-12, in last Sunday's season opener (Nov. 11), first-year head coach Sean Bormet is now 1-0 at the helm of the Michigan program. Bormet, a two-time NCAA All-American and Big Ten champion at 158 pounds at Michigan (1991-94), spent the last seven years as the top assistant at his alma mater and was elevated to the head job on March 27, 2018, after the retirement of 19-year head coach Joe McFarland.

Scouting the Opposition
Lehigh: The Mountain Hawks will make their dual debut against Michigan on Sunday night. They opened their season at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic last Sunday (Nov. 11), with five wrestlers posting 3-0 records in round-robin competition and three -- Nick Farro (125), Jordan Kutler (174) and Jordan Wood (Hwt) winning A-level pools. Seven Lehigh wrestlers are ranked nationally -- though only four in its projected lineup for Sunday -- including No. 7 Kutler (174), No. 7 Ryan Preisch (184) and No. 6 Wood (Hwt). Michigan leads the all-time series against Lehigh, 25-16, though the Mountain Hawks claimed the most recently meeting, a 27-8 decision in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to snap Michigan's two-meet win streak in the series.
Last Time Out
