The game was the first of two for the Wolverines in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, Campus Round in preparation for the tournament in Uncasville, Connecticut, later this month.
Prior to tipoff, Michigan raised a pair of banners into the rafters of Crisler Center to celebrate its second consecutive Big Ten Tournament title as well as its Final Four appearance in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, the Wolverines' second Final Four appearance in five years.
U-M had three players reach double digits: junior Jon Teske finished with a team-high 13 points, freshman Ignas Brazdeikis scored 12 in his Michigan debut and senior Charles Matthews added 10 points. Sophomore Eli Brooks scored eight points, dished out four assists and pulled down two rebounds, while classmate Isaiah Livers notched eight points, tied the team high with eight rebounds, handed out three assists and had two blocks. Sophomore Zavier Simpson had a team-best five assists and added four points and five rebounds on the night.

The Wolverines jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead that included a Teske dunk just two minutes into the contest. Norfolk State looked to close the early gap, but Livers came off the bench and ignited the Wolverine offense in the first half with a 3-pointer. Brazdeikis followed it up with a trey of his own from the corner to extend the Michigan lead to 17-2 with just over 10 minutes to play in the opening half.
Michigan continued to press offensively in the first half as it entered the break with a 32-13 lead over the Spartans. Teske paced the team in scoring with nine points and six boards over the opening 20 minutes, and the defense held Norfolk State to 24 percent shooting (6-of-25) while forcing eight turnovers.
Michigan maintained a healthy lead in the second half, going up as many as 29 points when Brooks drained a 3-pointer with 8:29 remaining in the contest. Brazdeikis netted the Wolverines' final five points with a layup and three free throws.
The Wolverines will be back on the Crisler Center court Saturday (Nov. 10), at 7:30 p.m., when they play host to Holy Cross. The game will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
