ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Fans of the University of Michigan women's gymnastics team got their first look at the 2018-19 Wolverines as U-M won its home exhibition quad meet with a score of 195.125.
"I think it is so important to get out there in the long-sleeve leotards in front of judges and an audience and do the routines we practice on in the gym," said junior captain Lexi Funk. "I am proud of our team to do whatever they could to rep the Block M."
U-M had individual event winners on all four events as well as the all-around top scorer. Freshman Natalie Wojcik was impressive in her first meet as a Wolverine with a top all-around score of 39.225. She won floor exercise (9.875) and uneven bars (9.875), while finishing tied for second on balance beam (9.700).
Freshman Abby Brenner won vault with a 9.875 on a big Yurchenko 1 1/2. Junior captain Lexi Funk was the top scorer on beam with a 9.725.

The Wolverines had a 48.975 on bars. Wojcik stuck her dismount to lead the team with a 9.875. Karas and junior Maggie O'Hara each put together solid routines for scores of 9.825. Michigan's bars were impressive with the top five individual finishers on the event wearing the Block M.
