Wolverines Ready for NC State Quad

The No. 6 University of Michigan women's gymnastics team will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, on Saturday (Feb. 17) to compete alongside No. 29 North Carolina State, No. 34 North Carolina and No. 64 Brown in a quad meet at 6 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
MEET INFO
• Michigan returns to Raleigh for the first time since 2014, when they scored 196.800 to beat NC State, North Carolina and Towson in a quad meet.
• The series between the Wolverines and the Wolfpack has been all U-M with Michigan winning all nine meetings. The last meeting came at home last season as U-M scored a 197.225. Three of the nine times the schools faced off have been at the NCAA Regionals or NCAA Semifinals. North Carolina State is ranked highest on floor at No. 24 in the country.
• Michigan is 4-0 against North Carolina with the last meeting coming in 2014. All four meetings have come since 2009. The Tar Heels boast the No. 10 floor team in the country and are No. 20 on vault, but have struggled on bars and beam.
• This will be the first meeting between Michigan and Brown. Cornell is the only other Ivy League school the Wolverines have faced. Brown's highest ranked event is bars (No. 54).
• After six weekends of action, Michigan is 5-1 and ranked No. 6 in the country. The Wolverines have been ranked as high as No. 3. They moved up one spot this week.
• U-M has been at its best on beam with a ranking of sixth nationally, averaging 49.163. U-M is 7th on bars, 8th on vault and 20th on floor.
• Three Wolverines are among the top 50 nationally on bars. Senior Brianna Brown is ranked 22nd nationally to lead the group. Sophomore Polina Shchennikova is tied for 34th and freshman Syd Townsend is tied for 43rd. Senior Paige Zaziski is ranked T-172nd but has won the event in three of the team's six meets.
• Junior captain Emma McLean is ranked in the top 10 on floor. She is averaging a 9.929 on the event this year to rank fifth-best in the country.
• After winning the all-around the last two weeks, Brown is ranked 15th nationally.
LAST TIME OUT
• Michigan Flipped for Chip at Crisler Center, scoring a 197.250 to beat Michigan State.
• Brown won the all-around with a score of 39.400 and tied for the win on bars with a 9.875.
• Shchennikova earned the first two event titles of her career with a 9.875 on bars and 9.925 on beam. She also had a career-best 9.825 on vault.
• McLean won floor for the fifth consecutive meet with a score of 9.950.
• Townsend (9.900 on vault) and fellow freshman Lauren Farley (9.925 on beam) each earned event wins. It was the first on vault for Townsend and first of Farley's collegiate career.
• The Wolverines posted a 49.425 on beam for their highest score of the season thus far. It was the third meet of the year in which they went over 49.000 on all four events.
