IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team won the doubles point and five-of-six singles matches to snap a five-match skid with a 6-1 victory to kick off Big Ten play on Friday (March 16) at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center.
The victory is Michigan's 13th consecutive Big Ten regular-season victory and it came in convincing fashion. The Wolverines quickly took the doubles point before they won the first three singles matches while surrendering only nine total games.
Among the bright spots for Michigan was Brienne Minor, the reigning NCAA individual national champion. After she worked her way back into form following offseason surgery, Minor logged her first singles win of the season at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Zoe Douglas. Minor also teamed with Mira Ruder-Hook at No. 1 doubles for a 6-1 win.
With the victory, Michigan also improved to 40-12 all-time against the Hawkeyes.
Michigan will continue Big Ten action on Sunday (March 18) when they travel to Nebraska to take on the Huskers at 11 a.m. CT.
