ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) named its 2018 Women's Division I All-America team on Tuesday (May 29) with University of Michigan sophomore Maddy Steere and junior Julia Sellers earning recognition.
Steere was named to the All-America third team, moving up from honorable mention her freshman year. Steere, a native of Pascoe Vale, Australia, had a tremendous all-around season for the Wolverines, leading the squad with 50 drawn exclusions and 18 field blocks. She was also second on the team in goals (74) and assists (34), third in points (108) and fourth in steals (47).
Sellers made her debut on the All-America list, receiving honorable mention. The Santa Ana, California, native led the team with 81 goals and was second with 114 points. She added 33 assists, 36 drawn exclusions, 46 steals, six field blocks and 46 sprints won to her outstanding season for the Wolverines.
This marks the fifth straight season that Michigan has had at least two players recognized on All-America teams. It is the third consecutive year that U-M has placed an individual on the first, second or third teams, as Ali Thomason was a first team All-American in 2016 and Allison Skaggs was a 2017 second team All-American under head coach Dr. Marcelo Leonardi.
