The No. 14-ranked University of Michigan softball team (41-9, 16-2 Big Ten) will wrap up the regular season with a three-game weekend series against rival Ohio State (33-11, 13-6 Big Ten) at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field. The team will square off at 6 p.m. on both Friday (May 4) and Sunday (May 6), while Saturday's (May 5) game is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
• With its 16-2 conference record, Michigan owns a narrow one-game advantage atop the Big Ten standings -- ahead of 15-3 Minnesota. The Wolverines took the series, 2-1, over previous second-place Indiana last weekend, pushing the Hoosiers to third with a 16-4 league record. Minnesota has a three-game series at Penn State this weekend.
• Michigan owns a 93-21 advantage in the all-time series against rival Ohio State, but the Buckeyes snapped a 21-game U-M win streak in the series with a 5-0 win in the most recent meeting. Michigan swept a doubleheader, 7-2 and 8-4, to kick off the series last year in Columbus, Ohio, before the Buckeyes took the series finale, 5-0.
• The Wolverines saw their perfect home record spoiled earlier this week with an 8-2 loss to Western Michigan on Tuesday (May 1). U-M is now 12-1 at home this season and has outscored its opposition, 94-13, in those contests. U-M is 560-135-1 (.805) all-time at Alumni Field since 1982.
• Freshman left-handed pitcher Meghan Beaubien leads the nation with 30 wins -- four more than North Carolina's Brittany Pickett in second place. It is the 11th time in Michigan program history that a pitcher recorded 30 wins in a season, and she is the eighth different Wolverine pitcher -- and third freshman -- to accomplish the feat. U-M's single-season wins record is 38, held by Jennie Ritter (2005).
• Michigan ranks third in the nation with a 1.18 staff earned run average, while Beaubien ranks top 10 nationally in several individual categories, most notably ERA (0.88, third), hits allowed per game (3.05, third) and shutouts (11, second). Beaubien leads the Big Ten in every pitching category.
• Michigan also ranks second nationally with a team .987 fielding percentage -- just .04 behind first-place Oklahoma. Three U-M starters own 1.000 fielding percentages, including senior first baseman Tera Blanco. Last season, Michigan also ranked second in the nation with a .981 fielding percentage.
• Sophomore third baseman Madison Uden posted a two-run double in the top of the ninth inning to help Michigan secure the rubber-match win at Indiana on Sunday (April 29) -- just a day after her older sister, Taylor, knocked out a walk-off homer in the ninth to win Saturday's slate for the Hoosiers. IU had intentionally walked senior right-handed pitcher/first baseman Tera Blanco -- her fourth walk of the game -- to get to Uden.
• Junior center fielder Natalie Peters was solid in the Indiana series and for the second straight weekend. Over the last six games, Peters has posted a .400 batting average with 10 hits and eight RBI. She registered her first collegiate triple -- which cleared the bases -- in the second Maryland slate (April 21) as part of a career-best four-RBI effort.
