ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (11-7, 2-4 B1G) returns to Crisler Center on Sunday (Jan. 20) to host Ohio State (7-8, 3-3 B1G) in the only meeting between the two rivals this season. The game is set for 3 p.m. and can be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
• Michigan is back at home for just its third conference game of the season, hosting Ohio State in the only meeting between the two rivals this season. U-M is 7-0 at Crisler Center this season, most recently rallying for a 79-78 overtime win against Northwestern (Jan. 8). Michigan is averaging 81.0 points per game on 46.7 percent shooting at home while allowing just 51.4 points per contest on 35.3 percent shooting. Michigan's seven home games is the lowest mark in the Big Ten.
• Michigan has cut down on its turnovers over the last two games, committing just 17 total against No. 9 Maryland (Jan. 12) and No. 22 Iowa (Jan. 17). U-M had just seven against the Hawkeyes, the first time with fewer than 10 miscues in a game since totaling just nine against Fort Wayne (now Purdue-Fort Wayne) on Dec. 16, 2017. The last time Michigan tallied single digits in turnovers during a Big Ten game was at Illinois on Feb. 1, 2017.
• Michigan is looking for its first back-to-back wins over Ohio State since winning three straight between Dec. 20, 2010 and Jan. 7, 2012. The two teams faced each other twice in a span of 10 days last season, with each team winning on the road. U-M won the final match-up between the two teams last season in Columbus, 84-75. The only other time Michigan won back-to-back games against the Buckeyes came on Jan. 29, 1999 and Feb. 6, 2000. Michigan has three wins over Ohio State since Kim Barnes Arico took over in 2012-13, accounting for a quarter of U-M's 12 all-time wins against the Buckeyes.
• Michigan and Ohio State have played some close games since the 2009-10 season. Only two of the last 16 games between Ohio State and Michigan has had a margin larger than 11: a 64-49 U-M win in Columbus on Jan. 5, 2014, and a 64-51 Michigan win at Crisler on Dec. 30, 2010. The last six games between the two rivals have each been decided by single digits. Ohio State won by seven in overtime last season in Ann Arbor before U-M responded with a nine-point win in Columbus just nine days later. The last six games have been decided by a total of 39 points (6.5 points per game).
• Ohio State (7-8, 3-3 B1G) has won three straight games after dropping its first three to begin Big Ten action. The Buckeyes are coming off a 75-71 overtime win at Penn State on Thursday (Jan. 17). The Buckeyes feature one double-figure scorer in Dorka Juhasz, who is averaging 12.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Carly Santoro is the second-leading scorer for Ohio State at 9.8 points per contest. Michigan and Ohio State split the season series last year, with each team winning on the road.
